Java Fern - Needle Leaf (sold per gram)
ava Fern ‘Needle Leaf’ (Microsorum pteropus)
Java Fern ‘Needle Leaf’ is a unique and elegant Java Fern variety known for its very thin, needle-like leaves. The slender foliage creates a delicate and flowing texture in planted aquariums, making it a great choice for aquascapers who want a lighter and more refined look compared to broader-leaf varieties.
Like other Java Fern species, this plant grows from a creeping rhizome and is extremely hardy, adapting well to a wide range of aquarium conditions. It thrives when attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape where its leaves can grow naturally and enhance the aquascape layout.
Care Tips
Lighting: Low to Medium
CO₂: Not required
Placement: Midground to Background (attached to hardscape)
Growth Rate: Slow to Moderate
Propagation: New plantlets may develop on older leaves or by dividing the rhizome
Aquascaping Notes
Java Fern ‘Needle Leaf’ is ideal for nature-style aquascapes, low-tech planted tanks, and shrimp aquariums. Its very fine leaves add movement and soft texture when placed alongside mosses, Anubias, and driftwood.
⚠️ Important: Do not bury the rhizome in the substrate. Attach the plant to rocks or driftwood using aquascaping glue or thread to prevent rhizome rot.
Please note that leaf size and shape may vary slightly as these are natural aquatic plants.
